International Women's Day

 

On 8 March 2021 on the occasion of International Women's day, marches, dharnas, meetings, memorandum submissions etc were organized in all places across the country. The Farmers’ Movement dedicated the day for women and women farmers and gave the stages on all Delhi borders to women leaders who led women marches and conducted the stages for the whole day.

SHG Women March to Bihar Vidhan Sabha

 

Women from Self Help Groups marched to the Vidhan Sabha in Patna on 5 March 2021 under the joint banners of AIPWA and SHG Sangharsh Samiti for the following demands: arbitrariness of micro-finance companies; loan waivers for women; end interest collection without delay; 0% to 4% interest interest rates on loans; guarantee employment for SHG women and procurement of their products; constitute state level Authority for loan regulation; Rs 21,000 for Jeevika workers.

Women Farmers’ Day


18 January 2021 was observed as Mahila Kisan Diwas (Women Farmers Day) in response to the call given by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha. Thousands of women protested at the Delhi borders against the Modi government and burnt effigies of IMF and WTO. Women from Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand participated in the protests. All over the country also, Women Farmers’ Day was observed by AIPWA and other women’s movement groups.

Women Leaders Detained at Lucknow For Protesting “Love Jehad” Ordinance


CPIML has strongly condemned the detention of women leaders by the UP police as they were distributing pamphlets against gender violence and the “love jehad ordinance”. The detained leaders include AIPWA leader Meena Singh, AIDWA leader Madhu Garg, women’s rights activist Naees Hassan and others. This is a repressive action to smother democracy.
