A 19 year old Dalit woman, gang raped by four men of the dominant Thakur caste, succumbed to her injuries on 30 September. The assailants she named - Sandeep, Ravi, Lavkush, Ramu - had attempted to strangulate her, resulting in a serious cut on her tongue and a fracture in her spinal cord.

All sensitive persons are deeply grieved by the death of Sushant Singh Rajput and the people of Bihar as well as all progressive people in the country want justice for Sushant and his family. But the courts should be allowed to decide whether or not Rhea Chakraborty is guilty for his death. The way in which the media is attacking and smearing Rhea is a shameful and criminal act. The manner in which media personnel pushed and shoved Rhea yesterday cannot be condemed enough. Action must be taken against the people who did this.

AIPWA organized protests across the State of Uttar Pradesh on 21 July 2020 against the escalating violence against women in the State and the incident where two women from Amethi (mother and daughter) seeking justice attempted self-immolation in front of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s office ‘Lok Bhavan’ and sustained 80% and 20% burns respectively.

Utarakhand ASHA Health Workers Union, affiliated to AICCTU organized a Protest Day on 3 July 2020 in response to the central trade unions’ nationwide call, and raised the issues of ASHA health workers. The protests were held at Haldwani, Nainital, Garampani, Betalghat, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Berinag, Gangolihat, Thal, Didihat, Kanalichhina, Munakot, Bajpur, Kashipur, badrkot, Almora, Syaldeh, Bhikiyasain, Ranikhet, Tadikhet, Dwarahat, Bageshwar, Kapkot and other places.

AIPWA observed 25 June 2020 as Nationwide Outrage Day against the horrific incidents that have come to light in the Kanpur Child Protection Home matter. Reports have come in about sexual abuse of minor girls at the Home and also about the implication of BJP leaders in these crimes. The Kanpur local administration has confirmed the reports that 57 girls have tested positive for Corona, out of which 5 minor girls are pregnant.
