On 9 May 2022 feudal forces shot dead Kashmarian (Charpokhri) resident Baijnath Prasad and his son Ajit Kumar (30) and seriously injured his nephew Prince Kumar (15). Immediately on receiving the news local CPIML MLA Manoj Manzil went to the hospital and demanded immediate action and arrest of the criminals. He said that feudal forces have perpetrated the murder of dalits because the Nitish-BJP government has emboldened criminals and boosted their morale. Such killings have become common. Baijnath Singh was an RJD activist.

CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya participated in a massive program in Khabaini (Arwal) organized under the banner of 'Freedom 75: People's Campaign' on 10 May 2022 to commemorate the anniversary of the 1857 freedom struggle. Khabaini village was the centre for the 1857 struggle in Magadh. One of the chief revolutionaries of the struggle Jeevdhar Singh hailed from this village. A park is being constructed in this village in memory of Jeevdhar Singh and Hetam Singh. Jeevdhar Singh's family has donated land for this park.

Under pressure from the long struggle to stop the destructive Bagmati embankment construction, four-five years ago the Nitish government had constituted a review committee comprising river experts, but the government has still not bothered to make resources available to the committee or to empower it in any way and has once again allotted funds in crores for carrying forward the embankment construction work.

The ASM and AIARLA held a rally and mass meeting in Nuagarh block of Gajapati district on May 7, 2022. The rally was addressed by Anasim Shabar, leader of the Adivasi Sangharsha Morcha, Tirupatii Gomang of the CPIML and Jacob Kari.
Demands are:
1- The poor people of each panchayat in Nuagadh block should be given 500 rupees a day for 200 days of work.
2. The language and culture of the indigenous peoples should be protection.
3 - All villages in the Nuagarh block should be included in the FRA.

The Covid warriors, health workers who were removed from work, wished to put their case before the Union Health Minister when he came to cut the ribbon and inaugurate the new building in the Lady Hardinge Hospital complex.

CPIML Bihar State Secretary Kunal on 6 May 2022 strongly condemned the brutal lathi charge on the agitating GNM students at PMCH.
Those brutally beaten during this lathi charge include AISA State President Vikas Yadav, Joint Secretary Divyam, Aditya, Nishant, Ashish, Saket, Animesh Chandan, AIPWA leaders Anita Sinha and Asma Khan and Insaf Manch leader Mushtaq Rahat.
The government and administration should have resolved this issue in a sensitive manner but nowadays under the Nitish regime the use of the language of lathis and bullets has become a common occurrence.

Atrocity against Dalits in Kendrapara Odisha

A kangaroo court comprising upper caste membersincluding the Sarpanch forced dalit youth Gurucharan Mallik of Tikhiri village, Kendrapara to lick his own spit from the floor, stand in humiliating 'frog' position and apologize for not giving a donation to the Ma Mangla temple annual celebrations. A donation of Rs 500 was also forcibly collected from him.

Vikram Kumar, a dalit youth resident of Thala Tadiyal village, Sult Block, Almora District was forcibly taken down by Savarna upper caste people from the horse he was riding in his Baraat on 2 May 2022 and all the Baraatis were threatened that they would be burned to death just like in another earlier incident that happened in Kafalta.
Incidents of atrocities against dalits are consistently on the increase in Uttarakhand which is another BJP government ruled state. The administration remains indifferent to these incidents.

Hundreds of people from across the Delhi gathered at the Delhi’s Kashmiri Gate on May 11th to take part in the protest march to Lieutenant Governor’s House calling for an end to communal and fascist Bulldozer politics run by BJP ruled MCDs. The protest was jointly called by CPIML, CPIM, CPI and various students and civil society groups, including organisations representing people whose houses had been razed during the previous demolition drives.

The Modi Government is on a spree of mass retrenchments of health workers employed in national capital’s government hospitals. On 1 April more than 150 pandemic frontline workers (whom the Government likes to call ‘Corona warriors’) from Lady Harding Medical College and hospital (LHMC), were retrenched without citing any reason. The Modi regime had, in 2020, asked people to shower petals on ‘Corona warriors’ as a mark of respect – and it is clear now that the petals were meant to stand in for actual respect, dignity, pay and permanent jobs.
