Statewide Protests in Jharkhand against Horse-Trading of MLAs

The entire state of Jharkhand is reeling under severe drought, but it is raining cash on MLAs! The horse trading game has been going on in the state ever since its formation. In addition to using the ED against the government, the BJP wants to turn this state into a hub for politics of horse trading. A few days ago lakhs of rupees were found at Howrah in the vehicles of 3 Jharkhand MLAs including Jamtada MLA Irfan Ansari. This clearly shows that the people's mandate is being sold openly in the market. The BJP wants to buy MLAs and grab power.

Protest at UGC against the discrepancies in UGC-NET Exams

The NTA has repeatedly failed at conducting national as well as state level examinations for UG, PG and research students. Their failures include delay in releasing exam schedules, admit cards and even in conducting examinations. With regard to the recent UGC-NET exam conducted by NTA, AISA and many other organisations listed the following concerns and demands for improving the examination process through a protest on 11 July held in front of the UGC headquarters in Delhi:

Protests against Arrest of Teesta Setalvad, RB Srikumar and Mohammad Zubair

The Supreme Court dismissed Zakia Jafri's petition challenging the exoneration of Narendra Modi in the 2002 Gujarat genocide case. The Supreme Court didn't stop at exonerating Narendra Modi under whose watch Gujarat had witnessed the 2002 pogrom and genocide, it went on to suggest that justice-seekers be put on trial. The next day, which ironically was the 47th anniversary of the promulgation of Emergency, ATS detained co-petitioner Teesta Setalvad and retired IPS RB Sreekumar.

Widespread Protests Against Islamophobic Hate Speeches and Bulldozer Raj

CPIML organised protest rally in Kolkata, West Bengal on 12 June against Islamophobic hate speeches by BJP. General Secretary of CPIML Com. Dipankar Bhattacharya condemning the police brutality and killing of protesting youth Mudassir and Sahil stressed upon the need to resist the illegal Bulldozer raj with widespread protests. CPIML demanded immediate action against Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal for the hate speech under relevant Cr. P. C. sections.

Freedom From Debt Day Observed

CPIML, AIARLA and Self Help Group Sangharsh Samiti organized statewide protests and observed 11 June as Freedom from Debt Day in protest against the collective debt-driven suicides of 5 persons from the same family at Mou village in Vidyapatinagar, Samastipur and the starvation-driven deaths of 5 persons from the same family who consumed poison in Patepur, Vaishali District.

High Time Nitish Kumar Acts against Liquor Mafia

CPIML Bihar has expressed deep anguish at the large number of deaths in the state during Holi due to poisonous liquor consumption and conveyed condolences to the victim families. State Secretary Kunal has said on 21 March that despite all the tall claims of the government, the havoc wreaked by illicit liquor continues unabated. At least now the government should stop its pretence of 'social reform' and take action against the real culprits.

ASHA Workers Protest in Front of Bihar Vidhan Sabha

As part of the ASHA Samyukta Sangharsh Manch's ongoing state-wide movement, a massive march was organized in front of the Bihar Vidhan Sabha on 11 March 2022. Manch leader and Bihar State ASHA Workers Union President Shashi Yadav led the march that started from Gate Public March and culminated in a meeting at the dharna site in Gardanibagh. ASHA workers from all over Bihar, who form the backbone of Bihar's health system, participated in the program and expressed their anger without mincing words.

Revoke Membership of BJP MLA Who Advocated Snatching Away of Voting Rights for Muslims

CPIML Bihar State Secretary Kunal said on 27 February 2022 that the membership of Bisphi (Madhubani) BJP MLA Haribhushan Thakur, who made an anti-constitutional and venom-spewing statement advocating cancellation of Muslims' voting rights, should be immediately revoked. The CPIML also raised this issue during the ongoing Bihar Assembly session.
