Bulldozer Raj: Uttarkhand - Demolition Order in Haldwani that will Render Thousands Homeless

Braving the chilling winter cold, thousands of people, including women, elderly and children are protesting against the eviction drive in Banbhoolpura area in Uttarakhand’s Haldwani. The district administration, along with the railway authorities have given one week notices to more than 4000 households to evict or face demolition.

One Year of ITI Workers Struggle

On 1st December, 2021, the ITI’s Management terminated 80 workers, largely Dalit and women, on the sole ground that they have unionized and are fighting for their legal rights. From then, the workers have been protesting day and night at the ITI Gate, Bengaluru under the aegis of the Karnataka General Labour Union, which is affiliated to the AICCTU.

CPIML Odisha State Conference

CPIML held its Odisha conference in Gunupur in Rayagada district on 12-13 December. More than 200 elected delegates from various districts attended the conference. The delegates participated in discussions on the report presented by the outgoing state committee followed by the election of a new state committee which in turn reelected comrade Yudhisthir Mahapatra as state secretary.

Freedom75: Families of Great Freedom Fighters Felicitated in Tripura

Away from the official hype and propaganda of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' the CPIML has a parallel stream of people's campaign to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India's independence and uphold the radical democratic legacy of the freedom movement, remembering unsung and forgotten heroes and their untold sacrifices and resolving to realise their unfulfilled dreams of a peaceful, prosperous, progressive future for all Indians.

Protest March Against ABVP's Culture of Violence

AISA has taken up a campaign against the FYUP (Four Year Undergraduate Programme). Hundreds of students took part in the protest on On 7th December in Delhi University on this issue. The students' assertion against exploitation is too big a threat to ABVP that their sole response was ruthless violence. When students were campaigning in Ramjas College, ABVP goons obstructed them threatening and disrupting the campaign. When AISA leader Abhigyan went to talk to them 8-10 ABVP goons spotted him on the way and gathered around and severely beaten him up.

AISA Protest against Scrapping of Maulana Aazad Fellowship

Students from AISA and other organisations protested in Delhi against the scrapping of Maulana Azad National Fellowship on 12 December. Ironically, they were assaulted and detained by police and taken to thana for exercising their right to protest.

The BJP has unleashed yet another attack on the minorities of the country by  dismantling a primary weapon of social mobility — education. AISA is demanding to restore the fellowship and called to fight back against this attack on education and minorities.

Babri Masjid Demolition Anniversary: Demonstrations held in West Bengal

On the 30th year of Babri demolition, 'Stop hatred, Save Constitution' march was organised by CPIML and other organisations in Kolkata starting from Hazra towards Esplande. CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, noted activist Medha Patekar,  along with others joined the march against communal hatred and violence by BJP RSS, and to uphold the secular and democratic ethos of our Constitution.
