On the 30th year of Babri demolition, 'Stop hatred, Save Constitution' march was organised by CPIML and other organisations in Kolkata starting from Hazra towards Esplande. CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, noted activist Medha Patekar, along with others joined the march against communal hatred and violence by BJP RSS, and to uphold the secular and democratic ethos of our Constitution.
Speaking at the rally in Kolkata, CPIML General Secretary said that “Today the BJP seeks to curb the very right provided in the Constitution to follow a religion of one’s choice. The calamity Ambedkar had warned against is staring us in the face, the challenge is to rescue India from the ravages of this disaster and strengthen democracy by all possible means to stop the Hindutva bulldozer.”
CPIML West Bengal state secretary Abhijit Mazumder and other comrades joined left parties march in Siliguri against the destruction of Babri Masjid on 6th December 1992 and took vow to protect diverse and pluralist fabric of India.
Abhijit Mazumdar, State Secretary of CPIML noted that “The Sangh brigade is working on the oft repeated aggressive slogan 'Ayodhya sirf ek jhanki hai, Kashi Mathura baki hai' (Ayodhya is only a glimpse of what will happen in Kashi and Mathura) as an act of masking its failures. The prices of essential commodities are soaring sky-high, the economy is in a terrible mess and the overwhelming majority of Indians are worried about their jobs, livelihood, housing and other basic necessities of life. The Modi government offers no solution to this crisis, no relief to the people, all it does is to seek opportunity in crisis and inflict more injuries on the people.”
Program and protests against the rising communal hatred and polarization were also held in various places in Kolkata, Nadia, South 24 Parganas, Murshidabad among other places in West Bengal.
