Poisonous Liquor Deaths in Bihar Continues


The relentless series of illicit liquor deaths in Bihar shows no signs of abating, while the government does nothing but indulge in empty rhetoric. CPIML State Secretary expressed deep concern at the government's attitude and said that with the latest deaths (6 deaths as of 11 November) in Shrisia and Bariyarpur villages in Kanti Block, Muzaffarpur District, the poisonous liquor official death toll has reached 62. The actual number of deaths is far higher.

CPIML Team Report from Lakhimpur Kheri


A 6 member team from the CPIML Uttar Pradesh unit visited Tikonia in Lakhimpur Kheeri on 3 October immediately after the barbaric massacre of farmers. The team comprised AIKM National Secretary Ishwari Prasad Kushwaha, AIPWA State President Krishna Adhikari, AIARLA National President Shriram Chaudhary, CPIML State Standing Committee members Omprakash Singh and Afroz Alam and State Committee member Rajesh Sahani.

Barauni Refinery Blast due to Criminal Negligence of the Management


A team comprising CPIML Bihar legislative party leader Mahboob Alam and AICCTU State Secretary Ranvijay Kumar visited Barauni Refinery on 17 September to find the facts relating to the blast that occurred on 16 September in AVU-1, one of the 3 boilers in the refinery. Accompanying the enquiry team were CPIML Beguserai District Secretary Diwakar Kumar, Chandradev Verma, Rajesh Shrivastava, Baiju Singh, Sonu and Farnaz.

AIPWA Team Visits Home of Girl Killed for Wearing Jeans


Family members, especially the grandfather and paternal uncle, of Neha Paswan in Deoria District found her wearing jeans so objectionable that they beat her to death. A 7-member AIPWA team led by State Joint Secretary and Devaria District President Geeta Pandey visited the village. AIPWA has demanded the strictest punishment for the killers and protection for the victim's parents.

Inspection of Bihar's Sole Mental Hospital Reveals Sorry State of Mental Health Care


A CPIML enquiry team conducted a surprise inspection of Bihar's only mental hospital. After the inspection MLA Manoj Manzil said that the hospital is being ruined by the Nitish government. He added that if doctors and nurses are not appointed without delay in the hospital as per norms, the issue will be raised in the coming Assembly session.

Dalit Beaten to Death in Hazaribagh

 

A CPIML-AIKM team visited Karama village in Chauparan Thana, Hazaribagh District, Jharkhand on 6 May to find out the facts behind the death on 28 April of a dalit man Chhakkan Bhuiyan who was brutally beaten by the police.

The enquiry team comprised All India Kisan Mahasabha State Secretary Puran Mahto, CPIML Hazaribagh District Committee members Sher Mohammed, Shekhar Rai and Khurshid Anwar Ansari.
