WB: Conduct Judicial Inquiry Into the Rampurhat Killings

A series of incidents of political violence in West Bengal is a matter of grave concern. Earlier a student leader was annihilated and an elected people’s representative was also killed. All these gory incidents have cast intense rage, concern among the citizen's. Criminals under political patronage from the ruling party and in complicity with the police are inflicting statewide terror.

Protest in Udaipur Against Heinous Killing of Jitendrapal Meghwal in Pali

Activists from various social organizations and left parties organized a protest and rally on 21 March 2022 at the Udaipur Collector's office against the heinous killing of Jitendrapal Meghwal in Pali by feudal forces. Jitendrapal Meghwal was Covid 'Sahayak' and resident of Barwa village in Bali Sub-Division, Pali District. He was murdered by feudal anti-dalit upper caste people of his own villege for growing mustaches.

Violence against Dalit Family in Palamu

On 20 March 2022 at about 4.30 in the evening about 15-20 dominant caste criminals went to the home of Mahabir Ram in Batsara village, Padwa Block, Palamu District, hurled casteist abuse and brutally beat him and members of his family. Mahabir Ram was injured and a car parked at his house was damaged. No action against the perpetrators was taken even 12 hours after an FIR was registered at Padwa Thana.

Bihar Assembly Library Committee Presents Report for the First Time in A Century

The Bihar Vidhan Sabha Committee led by Chairperson Sudama Prasad presented its report for the first time in the 100 years' history of the Vidhan Sabha. Comrade Sudama Prasad said that this is also possibly the first ever such report in the country. It should be noted that this time Library Committee has come under the CPIML quota. Sudama Prasad is the Chairperson and Paliganj MLA is one of its members.

Victory of Contract Sanitation Workers of Railways in Odisha

After a prolonged struggle for 28 days, railway contract sanitation workers of Mancheswar, Odisha, achieved a significant victory. At the end of January, all of a sudden, sixty-five contract sanitation workers of the Mancheswar Rail Carriage Repairing Workshop of East Coast Railway (ECoR) were thrown out of their jobs and pushed to starvation and misery by the railway administration. They were terminated by changing the nature of the contract. These workers had been employed in the workshop for more than 10 years.

Brutal Repression of Villagers Agitating Against Land Grab in Jharkhand

On 7 March the police at Tandwa (Chatra) in Jharkhand brutally lathi charged villagers who have been agitating for the past 14 months for their 3-point charter of demands from the NTPC management. The police also fired tear gas shells. The incident occurred at the NTPC project complex in Tandwa. The management used JCBs to demolish the dharna site of the protesters. Dozens of people are thought to be injured in the stone-pelting by police. Traffic on the Tandwa-Ranchi main road was obstructed for several hours.

Satyadev Ram Raises Purkhopatti Incident in Bihar Assembly

CPIML MLA Satyadev Ram raised the issue of the double murder of two girls in Purkhopatti (Bahadurpur Block, Darbhanga District). He said that the two girls who had gone to Purkhopatti to cut grass where they were raped and murdered on 15 February. A case of 'missing persons' has been registered in this matter and an SIT has been constituted. However, no concrete action has been taken so far. He demanded an answer from the government on this question and asked for a CBI enquiry be recommended in view of the seriousness of the matter.
