Mahboob Alam Writes to Bihar CM on Death of Migrant Workers

CPIML legislative party leader Mahboob Alam has written a letter to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with regard to the death of 30 year old migrant worker from Bihar Kamoth Ram in an accident at the SKM Edible Oil Manufacturing Co. In Erode (Tamilnadu) on 7 April and the death of 6 workers (with several others injured) in a fire at a chemical factory in Andhra Pradesh on 14 April. All the 6 deceased workers belong to the Chief Minister's home district Nalanda.

Bajrang Dal Attacks Ambedkarite Youth Rally in Odisha

Bajrang Dal goons attacked a bike rally which was taken out on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti at about 3 pm on 14 April 2022 at Godbhaga Area in Bargarh District. Followers of Babasaheb Ambedkar's ideology had organized the bike rally under the banner of the Ambedkarvadi Yuva Sangh from Attabira to Godbhaga. One of the victim youths, Sanjay Kumar, said that one day prior to the rally the police had said that the Ambedkar Jayanti rally would take place first, followed by the Bajrang Dal rally, and the police would help so that everything went smoothly.

Hindu Putra Organization Perpetrates Violence in Paru, Muzaffarpur

The violence perpetrated in Bihar by the BJP-RSS under the excuse of Ram Navami is a cause for serious concern. So far, reports of violence have come in from Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Gaya and some other Districts. At Qazi Mohammadpur village in Paru Block, Muzaffarpur, a saffron flag was hoisted on the Masjid there under a conspiracy hatched by an organization called Hindu Putra.

11th CPIML Bihar State Conference

The 11th CPIML Bihar State conference began on 25 March 2022 in Gaya. The first session was an open session attended by Left leaders and intellectuals. Addressing the conference, CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said that after winning the Uttar Pradesh election the BJP is now determined to implement the UP model in Bihar also. This is a big challenge for Nitish Kumar. We have seen how the BJP has entirely swallowed up Mukesh Sahani's party. Now they do not need Nitish Kumar even as a mask.

Adivasi Demands Day Observed

Kaparada Taluka in Valsad District, Gujarat reverberated with the slogan 'Rise up, adivasis, for your freedom, Follow the path of Bhagat-Bhim-Birsa Munda!' on 23 March, the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru. This day was observed as Adivasi Demands Day on the initiative of the Adivasi Sangharsh Morcha. Far from implementing the rights given to adivasis under the Forest Rights Act 2006, the government is snatching away even their ancestral cultivable lands.

CPIML Bihar State Secretary Kunal said on 23 March 2022 that the brutal killing of Viresh Chandravanshi (from the Extremely Backward Castes) at Hilsa in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's home district Nalanda, the ensuing atrocities on dalits and extremely backward castes by the police and feudal forces, and the reign of terror being established by the police in Western Champaran are extremely condemnable.

Jharkhand: Adivasi Sangharsh Morcha Struggles against Illegal Land Grab

In a display of public anger against land mafia's illegal capture and construction of a building on adivasi land in Lodhma Mauja village, Ramgarh Block (Khata No. 111, Plot No. 2095 Rakwa 97 decimal), people led by the Adivasi Sangharsh Morcha demolished the illegal under-construction building themselves on 20 March 2022. The local administration and thana failed to protect the aggrieved adivasi family in spite of repeated requests.

Rural Workers’ Protest in Trichy

AIARLA demonstrated in front of the Manaparaai panchayat Union office in Trichy, Tamilnadu on 22 March demanding state government's statutory wages of Rs.273, provision of employment under MNREGA to all needy persons, opposing photography of workers on the spot, payment of wages on time etc. AIARLA insisted for implementation of all MNREGA norms as this being a governmental and the Gov must fulfil its statutory obligation in the same way as it does for the government employees or MLAs and MPs.
