Yazaki India assures to take terminated workers back after protests by AICCTU

Illegally terminated workers of Yazaki India Pvt Ltd plant of Lakkenahalli of Ramnagara district of Karnataka have been staging a protest under the banner of AICCTU outside the factory gate since 26th December. A rally to the Ramnagara District Commissioner office demanding mediation was also conducted. After 16 days of the movement, the Yazaki management assured in a tripartite conciliation meeting with Deputy Labour Commissioner that the workers will be taken back.

Caste Atrocity against Dalits in Tamil Nadu’s Irayur village

Caste haunts the people of Irayur village in central Tamil Nadu. A horrific, atrocious image of caste discrimination has emerged from this village. According to reports, many children in the village became ill after drinking water from a tank segregated for Dalits. When doctors revealed that contaminated water could be the source of infections, it was discovered by the villagers that the water tank was polluted with human waste. This is an outrageous and condemnable act.

Protests Held in Joshimath against Government Apathy

CPIML and AISA held protests in many towns of Uttarakhand condemning central and state governments’ whose pro-corporate policies of promoting big dams and big construction projects which have resulted into a disaster now taking place in Joshimath town in Himalayas. The CPIML has consistently been raising the issue of environmental dangers inherent in the Tapovan Vishnugad Hydro-electric Power Project being built near Joshimath town for almost two decades, demanding scrapping of the entire project.

Caste Census Begins in Bihar

The CPIML has welcomed the process of Caste census which has now begun in Bihar. Many political parties have earlier demanded from the Modi government in the centre to hold a nationwide caste census but that was rejected by the BJP government. Bihar state secretary of CPIML, comrade Kunal has criticised the BJP’s hypocrisy as the latter is now issuing statements inside Bihar in favour of the caste census. If this party is honest then the demand of caste census would have taken up on a countrywide scale, he said.

Review Six-decades Old Bagamati River Project, Stop Construction of Embankments

The Chas Vaas Jeevan Bachao Sangharsh Morcha’s Convenor Jitendra Kumar has demanded to immediately hold a Review Committee meeting to decide about the construction of embankments in Bagamati River Project in Bihar. The Review Committee was scheduled to meet on December 22 in Muzaffarpur but this was cancelled because most of its members did not reach owing to lack of preparations and proper intimation to members. Ironically this meeting was decided after many years of committee formation.

Bulldozer Raj: Protesting Evictions Targeted at Minority Community in Assam

SADOU ASOM GRAMEEN SHRAMIK SANTHA in Nagaon district held a sit-in demonstration on 2 December, 2023 in protest against the Bulldozer raj and inhuman, communally targeted evictions at Batadrava of Nagaon district. The protest was also joined by hundreds of eviction victims of Haidubi Shibir Basti, Jaamaai Basti and Bhomoraguri Lalung Gaon.

3rd all-India Conference of Indian Railway Employees Federation ( IREF)

The 3rd all-India Conference of Indian Railway Employees Federation (IREF), affiliated to AICCTU,  was held on 11-12 December 2022 at Dhanbad, Jharkhand. The conference began with an open session of well decorated mass meeting on 11th, against New Pension Scheme and Privatization of Railways. The mass meeting concluded with a clarion call to wage a determined struggle against the attacks on working class by Modi led BJP government.
