Dumka district of Santhal Pargana is amongst the largest districts of Jharkhand, and is well known for the historical legacy of Sidhu-Kanu, Chand-Bhairav and Phulo-Jhano, who fought British colonialism. Under the patronage of the Modi government today once again the vulture eyes of the corporates have come to Dumka's forest, land and resources. There is also a huge threat to the environment, nature and tribal culture. It will need strong unity and a long drawn struggle to defend this.
A protest was held in Patna on 3 July in solidarity with the people of Manipur with the demand to take immediate measures to restore peace in the violence hit state. The protest was organised by AIPF and Insaf Manch and was addressed by CPIML politburo member Rajaram Singh.
Citing 'security reasons' for the PM visit as a reason, student and AISA Activists Abhigyan and Anjali were held in detention at their flat and prevented from going to campus. No warrant of any sort has been presented neither these activists were informed as to how long their house arrest would last.
In Jharkhand a state-level 'Fikri Nashist' (Contemplation Meeting) was organised on the burning issues faced by minorities in State Capital, Ranchi on June 18, 2013. Former MLA of CPIML Rajkumar Yadav and State Secretary of CPIML Manoj Bhakt participated. In deliberations, it came out that in the last three and half years since the Hemant government came in power, it remained indifferent to the issues of minorities and seems to be suffering from an untouchability like mentality.
In view of the ongoing opposition in the country on the Uniform Civil Code, the office bearers of the Imarat-e-Sharia met the CPIML leaders and appealed to oppose it in Bihar as well. The President of the organisation Mohd. Shamshad Rahmani, Executive Secretary Janab Shibli Qasimi and National Vice President Suhail Ahmad Nadvi participated in the talks with CPIML State Secretary Kunal, Politburo member Amar and Phulwari MLA Gopal.
On 19th Martyrdom Day of CPIML leader Rameshwar Ravidas, a resolution meeting was organised at Shaheed Maidan in Surunga (Baliapur) of Dhanbad, Jharkhand on June 18, 2023. While addressing the gathering, the speakers said that Com Rameshwar fought for the rights of the Dalit and deprived communities throughout his life. Along with the struggle of the coal workers, he became a vocal voice against the coal sector management on the issue of the compensation to the farmers for acquired land.
Call to strengthen women's movement and anti-drug campaign for social equality
In Mansa (Punjab), on June 23, 2023, on the occasion of 16th death anniversary of CPIML leader Comrade Jeeta Kaur, a Chetna Sammelan was organised. A call was given to organise women for social, economic, political and cultural equality and to strengthen the 'Nasha Nahi Rojgar Do' (Give Employment Not Drug Menace) campaign.
The All India Central Council of Trade Unions (AICCTU) gave a call for a state-wide protest day that was observed in various districts including, Kolar, Raichur, Hubli-Dharwad, Mangaluru, Kodagu, Koppal, and Bengaluru on June 28th, 2023.
The All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) and Kisan Sangharsh Morcha organised a kisan sammelan on 24 June in Patna on the issues of MSP, Food Security and Loan Waivers for the farmers. The convention was attended by more than 1200 representatives of various constituent farmers organisations and addressed by many national as well as state level farmers’ leaders. The convention passed a 24-points demand charter for Bihar.
The CPIML legislative group in Bihar met on 27 June to deliberate on the major issues to be raised in the next session of the Vidhan Sabha. The session beginning from 10 July is likely to witness strong intervention by CPIML MLAs against continued attacks on the basic tenets of the Constitution and democracy by the BJP all over the country and in Bihar.
