TODAY the Nitish government is in the dock on all issues concerning dalits, poor, farmers, women, students, youth, teachers, minorities and people-oriented development. Despite the ‘Development with Justice’ jumlas and manipulation of statistics for the past 15 years, Bihar lags behind on all basic issues of development. Nitish Kumar, who has termed land struggles of the poor as ‘Bakwas’ (rubbish), has himself been doing ‘Bakwas’ for the past 15 years on the issue of Bihar’s development.

THE CPIML Uttar Pradesh unit has condemned the arrest of Rihai Manch President Mohd Shoaib from his residence on 7 March 2020. The Party has also condemned as anti-Constitutional the Uttar Pradesh government’s act of putting up “Wanted” posters of socio-cultural and human rights activists like Sadaf Jafar, SR Darapuri, Mohd Shoaib and Deepak Kabir on Lucknow roads for taking part in anti-CAA-NRC-NPR protests.

CPIML State Secretary Kunal in a statement on 26 February condemned Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s remark during his Budget speech that the CPIML-led struggles in different parts of Bihar are “Bakwas” (rubbish). Kunal said that this is an insult to dalits and the poor.

THE ruling BJP says "Beti Bachao" (Protect Daughters), but on its watch, its own supporters and the police force it controls have a free hand to repeatedly assault and molest women students in college and University campuses in India's capital city.

ON 11 February 2020 the accused persons including the main accused Brajesh Thakur in the Muzaffarpur Shelter Home case were sentenced. AIPWA has called this a victory of justice and said this victory was made possible by the long struggle carried on by the women of Bihar and the Shelter Home girls standing firm in their statements despite all kinds of threats. However, the police, CBI and government have saved the political protectors in this case from being exposed. AIPWA will continue the fight to bring them to justice in the coming days.

Hold the Modi Govt. Accountable for Economic Recession and Massive Unemployment!

CPIML Delhi State Committee has issued a statement regarding Delhi Assembly elections.

BUDGET 2020-21 continues with the Modi Government’s disastrous policies, and has no relief to offer people reeling under unemployment, price rise, agricultural distress and crashing wages.

By the Budget documents' own admission, the percentage of casual labour in total employment has decreased. This at a time when BJP government was trying to casualise the workforce! This is an indication of dire employment scenario. 'Self employed' labour remains 50% as was in 2011, eight years back - also indicating rising unemployment.

EVERY step towards peace in the Bodo region is welcome, and in that spirit, the Bodo Accord has been backed by all Bodo factions and has also met with support by many in Assam. However, there are several apprehensions and questions that cannot be ignored.

THE BJP government in Uttarakhand has taken an extremely repressive step and decided to remove from service Anganwadi workers who have been protesting for the last 2 months with a 7-point charter of demands. AICCTU has condemned this repressive decision as extremely ‘shameful’ and an attack on the Constitutional right of women workers to struggle for their rights.
