Jharkhand: CPIML Campaign to Implement Electoral Promises

A 'Promise Reminder' campaign is being organized by the CPIML across Giridih Assembly constituency in Jharkhand. The campaign started from Shastri Nagar on 14 August 2022, led by Giridih party in-charge Rajesh Sinha. People gathered at Ward No. 9 and discussed the electoral promises of the Modi government in 2014 and 2019. The promises made by the Hemant government were also discussed. The unanimous pronouncement was, if they cannot fulfill their promises why do they make them in the first place? CPIML opposes conning the people with false promises.

Slum Demolitions in Delhi Continues

More than 600 families of the Gyaspur Slum in Delhi were forcibly displaced from their homes on 8th August, this time after serving them a two days’ notice by the Delhi Development Authority. Now when the country is celebrating 75th year of Independence thousands have been rendered homeless forced to live under open sky, without food, water, toilet and electricity. Similar notices of demolitions have also been sent to some other jhuggi clusters in the national capital.

Workshop of ASHA Facilitators in Bihar

A state level workshop was organized on 6 August in Patna by Bihar State ASHA Karyakarta Sangh. The workshop was inaugurated by AICCTU General Secretary RN Thakur. The main speakers were CPIML Politburo member Dhirendra Jha, Bihar State Rasoiya Sangh General Secretary Saroj Chaube and ASHA Kryakarta Sangh President Shashi Yadav. The main issues discussed at the workshop included payment of Rs 21000 monthly honorarium for ASHA facilitators, giving them health department employee status and payment of Corona period arrears to ASHAs.

People Throng Streets in Bihar against Inflation, Unemployment, Fascism

There was a huge participation of various sections of society in the protest marches called on 7 August at all District HQs by the Mahagathbandhan parties in Bihar against inflation, unemployment, fascism, Bulldozer Raj, attacks on Muslims and women, and for the demand to declare Bihar a drought-affected state. Large numbers of common people as well as activists of CPIML and other Mahagathbandhan parties thronged the streets in capital Patna and other Districts to warn the BJP government that this situation will not be tolerated.

AIARLA Organizes Protests across Uttar Pradesh

In response to the joint call given by agrarian workers' organizations on 1 August 2022 hundreds of agricultural and rural workers led by AIARLA protested with their demands at many Districts across Uttar Pradesh and submitted memorandums addressed to the President.

In a joint convention at Lucknow on 13 July 2022, a 28-point charter of demands was put forth in the light of the national convention held earlier on 16 May 2022 at Delhi and it was decided to implement the program in all Districts in the state.

Adivasi Sangharsh Morcha Observes World Indigenous Peoples Day

On 9 August, World Adivasi Day (World Indigenous Peoples Day) the Adivasi Sangharsh Morcha organized a gherao of the Raygada District Office and specifically raised the issue of the ongoing cholera epidemic spreading in the district due to administrative negligence. A militant march was held in spite of police and administrative highhandedness and threats.

Police Responsible for the Custodial Killing of Ramsevak Ram in Samastipur: SC/ST Committee

Last year in Bihar a sanitation workers was beaten to death for demanding his unpaid wages, in custody of the Samastipur police.

The SC/ST Committee enquiring into the custodial killing of sanitation worker Ramsevak Ram in Rosda in Samastipur District has held the Thana in-charge, SDPO and SI Rajiv Ranjan responsible for Ramsevak Ram's death. After the committee's findings, ADG has directed the SP to register a case immediately and take action.
