Workshop of ASHA Facilitators in Bihar

A state level workshop was organized on 6 August in Patna by Bihar State ASHA Karyakarta Sangh. The workshop was inaugurated by AICCTU General Secretary RN Thakur. The main speakers were CPIML Politburo member Dhirendra Jha, Bihar State Rasoiya Sangh General Secretary Saroj Chaube and ASHA Kryakarta Sangh President Shashi Yadav. The main issues discussed at the workshop included payment of Rs 21000 monthly honorarium for ASHA facilitators, giving them health department employee status and payment of Corona period arrears to ASHAs. It was also decided to organize the national conference of Scheme Workers Federation (AICCTU) in Bihar in May-June 2023 and to hold protests in the month of September at all District HQs. If the government fails to act for timely fulfillment of the demands, ASHAs in Bihar will go on strike in November.
