THE dramatic rhetoric of “Self-Reliant India Campaign” by PM in his latest address to nation, did not even have a single word on miseries and deaths of migrant workers. In the name of Economic Package, the Modi govt. has only gone all out to throw away the economy to Foreign Capital and corporate sharks, continuing more brutally its policies of last six years.

THE struggle to bring back safely all stranded workers to their homes is not over. CPIML, AICCTU and AIARLA have been raising this issue but the governments are adamant on creating hurdles and ignoring the most important aspect of the fight with the Covid-19 pandemic. The central government had to declare a plan to start trains/buses under pressure but that’s proving to be highly inadequate as were the suspicions raised from many quarters since the beginning.

AFTER the PM Modi’s speech on 14 April, CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya has said that this was yet another Modi address with only calls and appeals for the people to follow, false claims about adopting a 'holistic and integrated approach', but only silence about if and what the government will do to ensure food, ration and subsistence allowance for all!

CPIML Memorandum to the Prime Minister

CPIML has sent a memorandum to the Prime Minister asking him to consider on the following points in view of the crisis let loose on the common people during lockdown and for developing appropriate medical requirements.

Who Really Ordered Parliament Attack, Pulwama and Other Terror Attacks?

A countrywide ‘people’s awareness campaign’ against the conspiracy to divide the people, spread hate and fear and divert attention from people’s issues to hand over the country’s resources to capitalists and industrialists is being conducted at the call of the CPIML. Ground level mass contact programmes are being taken up under this campaign.

ALL India Kisan Mahasabha is campaigning in the villages of Bihar for making irrigation canal systems functional. Dharnas will be organized at all Blocks in Bihar on 27-29 August. Supply of water from Kadvan Reservoir and the demand to declare Bihar a drought-affected State are among the issues prominently raised.

GRAM Sabhas (village level meetings) under the banner of AIARLA are being organized in Bihar from 9 August to 7 November on the issues of flood, drought, land rights, right to housing, etc. Protest programmes are also held at Panchayat, Block and District Head Offices. There will be a big protest rally on these issues by the rural poor on 9 November at Patna.

1. The existing NIA and UAPA laws are draconian and have been rampantly misused to target human rights activists and innocent citizens. Activists working to protect the rights of India’s most vulnerable communities, and dissenting voices against the Government, have been arrested under these laws.
