AISA's Letter to President of India Raises Concern About Dwindling Campus Democracy in Allahabad University

On October 31, AISA wrote a letter to the President of India Droupadi Murmu regarding student's protest in Allahabad University and issue of attack on campus democracy and misuse of administrative authority by the University Proctor. Expressing the deep sense of concern and anguish, the letter noted "We all know, that Allahabad University has been rightly recognised in the world as the 'Oxford of the East' due to its academic excellence.

Left Rally in Lucknow: Call to Oust BJP from Power

A massive ‘Oust BJP, Save Democracy’ rally in Lucknow called by Left and democratic parties was held in Eco Park on 11 October. People from across the state came to attend this political gathering addressed by CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, CPIM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, CPI General Secretary D Raja, AIFB General Secretary G Devrajan and Loktantrik Janata Dal’s Javed Raza. 

Campaign on People’s Issues in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu state committee of CPIML and AIARLA jointly organised a yatra from 2-13 Sep 2023, on issues of land, wage, employment and social dignity. The campaign begun from the village of martyr comrade Chandrakumar in Mayiladuthurai district. A torch was carried from the memorial of comrade Chandrakumar. The yatra marched to the martyr’s column at the village Manalur of Thanjavur district which was a hotbed of militant anti-feudal struggles led by the CPIML in early 80s.

Anti-Fascist Convention in Nagpur

An anti-fascist convention was organised in Nagpur on May 25, 2023 by the Progressive People's Forum. CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya spoke as the main speaker in the convention presided over by the economist Shrinivas Khandewale. The introductory remarks were made by Comrade Kale. Gopal Nayadu expressed concerns about the erosion of constitutional institutions, erasure of historical symbols, and the rejection of Darwin's theory.

Over the past few weeks, social media was flooded with fake news about attacks on migrant workers from Bihar and other northern states. The rush of migrants back to their homes on account of Holi was cynically labelled as fleeing Tamil Nadu due to attacks.

Save Democracy Dialogue in Bihar

CPIML is conducting a Save Democracy Dialogue public campaign in Bihar from 23 March, martyrdom day of Shahid-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, which will culminate in statewide programmes on 22 April, on CPIML party foundation day. The Dialogue is meant to carry forward the message of the recently concluded 11th Party Congress. Special programmes will also be held on 14 April, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar as part of this Dialogue.

Scheme Workers to Hold Rally in Delhi on 28 Nov

National Federation of ASHAs and Scheme Workers affiliated with AICCTU has decided to hold a rally in national capital on 28 November. The major demands to be raised through the rally and the campaign which is ongoing in different states include raising the minimum wage, giving an employee status, pensions and social security.

AICCTU leader V Shankar and Rajiv Dimri told in Allahabad on 22 September that a nationwide campaign is being conducted for these demands.
