Following their shameful track record of obstructing truth from coming out, the Uttar Pradesh government led by Yogi Adityanath placed a team of CPIML members under house arrest, who were heading to Sambhal to meet the families whose loved ones were killed by UP Police violence.
CPIML team consisting of Sudama Prasad, Member of Parliament, Krishna Adhikari, AIPWA President, Uttar Prasad and Central Committee member of CPI ML, Afroz Alam, Western UP incharge of CPIML, Rohtas Rajput, Moradabad secretary of the party, N Sai Balaji, former JNUSU President and former AISA National President and others reached Moradabad in the morning. However, as the team was moving towards Sambhal from Moradabad, UP Police initially prevented the team from leaving the house of a local resident in Moradabad.
After the team insisted on proceeding towards Sambhal, UP Police led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Moradabad communicated to the CPIML members that they were being placed under house arrest.
When demanded the reasons for the house arrest, the police personnel cited an order passed by Sambhal District Magistrate preventing outsiders from entering the district till 10th of December.
The team demanded that if the administration doesn't allow the team to meet the families of victims, a meeting with the Commissioner of Police must be ensured. The police officials present there bluntly denied an elected Member of Parliament an opportunity to meet the Commissioner of Police.
No discussion is being allowed in the parliament, no protests are being allowed in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, people's representatives are not being allowed to meet the victims in Sambhal. It is unfortunate that the double engine government at Centre and State are doing everything in their capacity not to allow any discussion and protest on the killings of Muslims in Sambhal.
The double engine government of Yogi and Modi, has failed to address the issues of corporate loot, question paper leaks, continuously rising inflation, electoral malpractices and other issues impacting the people. The focus on creating Hindu-Muslim conflict is not only an effort to divert issues of public importance but also communalise the society. The killing of Muslims in Sambhal is nothing but another reflection of the hate filled Yogi Governance that survives on the blood of its own citizens.
CPIML condemns the house arrest of people's delegation to Sambhal and demands the dismissal of DM and SP of Sambhal for their complicity in killings of innocents. The communal and divisive gameplan of the Yogi Government that not only protects killers of Muslims and Dalits, but propagates hatred to gain electoral dividends must be unitedly rebuffed by the people.
