Despite the heavy police presence and crackdown on students' resistance on December 15, hundreds of Jamia came together to remember the horror and violence unleashed by the Delhi Police on campus on this day in 2019. The Jamia administration turned off the electricity of the entire campus to dissuade students from gathering. But the march proceeded from Central Canteen to Zakir Hussain Library; i.e. the site of the 2019 Delhi Police violence and concluded at Gate no. 7.
Students who had witnessed the violence on the day or whose friends had been injured in the violence spoke about the horrors of the day. Com Saurabh from AISA remembered the day and said "Today, while we remember the police violence unleashed on the students on 15th December we would also like to remember all equal citizenship political prisoners who were arrested under bogus UAPA charges and continue to be in jail. We salute the courage of Jamia's students and demand the immediate release of all anti-CAA political prisoners."
AISA salutes the spirit of the students of Jamia and remembers the inspiring and courageous legacy of the anti-CAA protests of 2019-2020. We also reiterate our demand for the release of all equal citizenship political prisoners languishing in jail under cooked up UAPA charges.
