Labour Law Violations and Worker Rights Abuse

All India Central Council of Trade Unions (AICCTU) raised significant concerns regarding labour law violations and the infringement of worker rights at various companies and government establishments in Patna. AICCTU State Secretary, Ranvijay Kumar demanded stringent enforcement of labour laws and action against employers who are violating these laws and undermining workers' rights.

He flagged the issue of labour rights violations in Venkos Company in Patliputra Industrial Area. The company, engaged in hydraulic jack manufacturing, dismissed Surendra Yadav, the General Secretary of the Venkos Workers' Union and AICCTU Patna District President. He was dismissed for demanding overdue and timely wages for the workers.

AICCTU has demanded that Venkos management must reinstate Surendra Yadav, immediately. The union has warned that failure to comply will lead to a protest against the company, labour department, and district administration.

Comrade Ranvijay also raised the issue of lack of proper wages for workers and employees of Patna based Red Cross Institute, which is under central government jurisdiction. As workers of the Red Cross Institute suffer from lack of minimum living wages, the institute's higher officials are reportedly receiving salaries and benefits significantly above the norm.

In Phulwari Sharif’s Nalanda Biscuit Company and Sudha Dairy, there are incidents of rampant labour right violations, including failure to make proper Provident Fund (PF) deductions, provide gratuity, grant leave, and compensate for overtime work.

AICCTU has urged the state government, labour commissioner, and Patna District Magistrate to take immediate legal actions against these companies and ensure enforcement of labour laws and address the violations reported.
