CPIML MLA Gopal Ravidas has called for the restoration of peace in Jat-Dumri and called for a high-level investigation into recent attempts of communal polarisation by elements linked to the Bajrang Dal. Gopal Ravidas has expressed concerns over the role of the Masaurhi Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), under whose watch the incident happened and has called for an inquiry into his involvement.
The violent incident occurred on September 13, 2024, in which members of Bajrang Dal went on a rampage, damaging a shrine, mosque, and creating chaos in the market. Furthermore, three rooms at the temple were vandalised by anti-social elements on the night of September 13. On September 14, around 8-10 motorbikers linked to the Bajrang Dal caused havoc in the Jat-Dumri main market. They scattered shopkeepers' goods, threatened to set fire to the shops, and engaged in stone-pelting at a nearby shrine. They also attempted to attack a mosque but fled upon seeing the police.
