CPIML activists came out in large numbers in support of the Bharat Bandh called on 21 August against the sub-categorisation of SC/ST quota and issue of creamy layer after the Supreme Court verdict in this regard.
In Uttar Pradesh CPIML along with many dalit organisations marched jointly in Sikandarpur of Ballia district and blockaded the highway for many hours. CPIML central committee member Shriram Chaudhary addressed this gathering which continued despite police obstructions. He termed this SC verdict not in accordance with the Constitution and against the spirit of social justice. He said that various government institutions have not implemented the reservations properly with the BJP governments deliberately misinterpreting the policy of reservation against the interests of SCs and STs. In UP, the Yogi government violated Reservations policy in 69000 teachers’ appointments which was a huge scam. We need to be vigilant against such anti-reservation designs.
CPIML State committee member Rajesh Sahni addressed bandh participants in Gorakhpur at the Ambedkar statue and condemned the BJP government’s attempts of undermining the constitution and continuously attacking the constitutional institutions and democracy.
CPIML held a demonstration in support of the Bandh in Maharajganj where protesters raised slogans against lateral entry appointments and the BJP designs of creamy layer. This was led by district Secretary Sanjay Nishad.
Shashikant Kushwaha led bandh supporters in Gazipur where a march was taken out up to Sarju Pandey Park. This was addressed by Kamlakar Ram, Yogendra Bharti, Vijayi Banvasi, Gorakh Rajbhar, Manu Gond and others.
CPIML and SP held a dharna in Chandauli at district headquarters which raised the demand to include the SC/ST reservation under the 9th Schedule of the Constitution. CPIML leader Anil Paswan and RYA UP President Thakur Prasad addressed this protest. In Mirzapur CPIML State Standing Committee member Jira Bharti addressed the protesters along with Dharmraj Kol and others.
Safai Mazdoor Ekta Manch organised a protest sit-in in Allahabad. A march was also taken out and a memorandum was sent to the CM. CPIML members held a protest march also in Jalaun which was led by Rajiv Kushwaha, Ram Singh Chaudhary and others. In Hargaon, of Sitapur district, party’s zilla panchayat member Arjun Lal addressed the Bandh supporters, and Advocate Nasir Sah addressed the protesters in Mathura.
CPIML activists actively took part in the Bharat Bandh in states including Jharkhand and Bihar.
