AIARLA held a protest on 23 August 2024, as part of its countrywide campaign, in Rayagada at the District Collector's office and handed over a memorandum with 14 demands.
Major demands included 200 days of work per year and 600 rupees per day wage under MNREGA, 50 kg of rice to the ration cardholders, 5 lakh rupees in the PM Awas Yojana, end to bulldozer raj and free water to all Dalit and poor households as well as provision of 300 units of electricity. AIARLA has also demanded guarantee of the right to education and health in rural areas, pension of Rs 5000 per month to all retired rural and agrarian workers, old and disabled, provision of land for cultivation to genuine farmers, to enact laws to implement SC/ST sub-schemes and increase in the allocation for SC/ST development and welfare schemes in the budget, implementation of Right to Food Act with guaranteed provision of rice, wheat, pulses, oil and spices in it, strict implementation the PESA Act, to put a stop on the repressive microfinance companies, curbing attacks and atrocities on the poor.
