Charu Mazumdar Martyrdom Day

On the occasion of the 52nd Anniversary of Comrade Charu Mazumdar's Martyrdom and 50th anniversary of Party Reorganisation, tributes were paid to martyrs and departed leaders and pledge was renewed to strengthen the party and prepare for a new phase of growth and expansion. The day was observed by garlanding his bust at Charu Bhawan, the party central office in Delhi. Newly elected CPIML MPs Rajaram Singh and Sudama Prasad also joined the party central staff in this commemoration. The day also marks the 50th anniversary of the reorganisation of the party after the setback of the early 1970s. Party committees and branches across the country observed this day by renewing the pledge to defeat fascism and advance the interests of the people. CPIML Gen Sec Dipankar Bhattacharya, Rajaram Singh, Ravi Rai, Sucheta De, Sudama Prasad, Prabhat Kumar, Rajiv Dimri, Shweta Raj, Prem Singh Gahlawat and many comrades from Delhi paid tributes to martyrs.

Programmes were held at all the branches across the country where a call was read out and pledge renewed. In Bihar state office Politburo member Swadesh Bhattacharya, Amar, Mina Tiwari, State Secretary Kunal and other leaders paid tributes to martyrs and reiterated the pledge to expand and strengthen the party. They also called for a huge success in the ongoing statewide Haq Do, Vada Nibhao campaign.

Comrade Swadesh Bhattacharya said that the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections have opened newer possibilities for expanding the party to deliver a decisive defeat to the fascists in the country. We have to strengthen the energetic and stronger initiatives by the left to carry forward the direction and spirit of the 2024 mandate. We have to effectively resist and defeat BJP’s designs of escalating violent communal attacks on minority communities which are being witnessed post-elections.

Comrade Kunal said that a campaign is going on for the assertion of the poor and struggle for their rights along with new membership recruitment and organising new branches in the state.

In Gunupur of Rayagada district in Odisha the Martyrdom Day was observed in Lungurutal, Dutuguda, Chalkamva, Jambughoda, Rizigantal and Ananya villages. Speaking on the occasion, central committee member Tripati Gomango said that serious injustice has been done by the BJP’s central government to other states including Odisha which will have adverse consequences for the federalism. The Odisha-Andhra dispute regarding the Polavaram project is still pending in the court, but the Modi government has given an assurance favouring Andhra. Similar programmes were organised at Bhubaneshwar and other places in the state.

A State level cadre Meeting was organised in Tamil Nadu was held after carrying out July 28th CC call of strengthening and restructuring the Party at lower levels, at Madurai. The flag hoisting was done and tributes were paid to the martyrs.

Various programmes were held at Ranchi, Lucknow, Kolkata, Haldwani, Siliguri, Kakinada, Bangalore and other important centres as well as in all districts and blocks in all states.
