Navinagar Mob Lynching: CPIML Demands High Level Enquiry

In Navinagar in Aurangabad district of Bihar, a mob lynching incident was investigated by a fact-finding team of CPIML comprising Arwal MLA Mahanand Singh, party state committee member Anwar Hussain, Insaaf Manch state secretary Qayamuddin Ansari, Aurangabad district secretary Munarik Ram and local party leaders on January 17, 2023. The team interacted with local people to find the truth behind the incident but in the environment of fear after the lynching incident it became difficult to come to a definitive conclusion. The team felt that there should be a high level enquiry of the incident to reach to the bottom of the case. The local people were ruling out communal angle and arguing that the incident was the result of spontaneous anger after one Ramsaran Chauhan got killed after he was fired upon by one of the five persons in a vehicle following heated exchange on the issue of parking.

It can’t be denied that mob lynching tendencies is on high generally in the society due to the atmosphere of hatred propagated by the BJP. This angle can’t be ruled out at this stage in Navinagar mob lynching case. The responsibility of police administration also has to be fixed which is arguing that there is no wrong doing on its part and delay happened due to late communication.

The team demanded that Rs 20 lakh compensation should be paid to the victims. Police has nabbed six people for investigation in the case till now. Innocent people shouldn’t be arrested and the incident should be impartially investigated by a high-level enquiry team appointed by the State govt. Steps should be taken towards curbing the tendency of mob lynching in the society.
