The three left parties in Uttarakhand, CPIML, CPI and CPIM, have launched a month-long campaign in Uttarakhand against the ruling BJP’s repeated attempts to create communal tension by spreading false news. The Uttarakhand government is also simultaneously conducting an illegal demolition drive targeting minority places of worship throughout the state.
The left parties will organise mass conventions in various cities, one such was held in Haldwani on 17 September. This was chaired by Raja Bahuguna, Chairperson, Central Control Commission of CPIML. He said that the BJP is trying to build up a false sense of fear among the majority community only to deprive people of their rights and livelihoods. The ruling party’s ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ slogan actually has been turned into ‘Sabka Vinaash’ (destruction of all) by the most corrupt government in the country. The report by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India has exposed this fact once again.
CPIML Uttarakhand state secretary Indresh Maikhuri said that the state government has spent 47,758 crores without any consent by the state Assembly which is illegal. The government has failed on all fronts with unemployment and inflation rising to unprecedented levels while it is diverting the people’s attention towards a nefarious communal agenda. The eviction drive being launched in Uttarakhand is nothing but a communal hate drive with the intention to divide the society further. These days even small towns are facing hate mongering and eviction drives. It is not only the religious and communal divide, but also the caste divide being witnessed with many incidents of oppression of dalits in the state in the last few years. The weaker sections of the society are facing the brunt of divisive politics of hatred and oppression. This is a fascist design being perpetrated to demolish the basic essence of the constitution which ensures equality for all citizens and must be opposed.
CPIM state secretary Rajendra Singh Negi also addressed the convention and said that this is a planned conspiracy to spread communal hatred by the RSS and BJP which was deepened through the ‘Dharm Sansad’ held in Haridwar in 2021 and was being repeated again and again at different places. The fake propaganda of love jihad and land jihad is unfortunately being spread by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself to target the muslims. This is a shame that a person sitting on a constitutional post is involved in such immoral and unconstitutional acts. Such propaganda is anti-minority as well as anti-women and will be opposed by the people in the state.
Other speakers emphasised on the need to oppose attempts to spread communal frenzy and stand up firmly for the democratic, pluralistic cultural heritage of our freedom movement and to protect the constitution of India.
The convention pledged to carry out a campaign at village level against these fascist designs. AICCTU leader KK Bora, Uttarakhand ASHA Union president Kamla Kunjawal, Mohan Matiyali, BL Arya, Advocate Kailash Joshi, LIC employees’ leader Manoj Gupta, CPIML senior leader Bahadur Singh Jangi, Bhuvan Joshi and many others also spoke at the convention. The convention was conducted by CPIML Nainital district secretary Dr. Kailash Pandey.
