Tej Bahadur said that his son’s life was taken because he asked for his wages- 1200 rupees. He went to Ram Anuj’s house to ask for wages, but did not return. He added that Digvijay Yadav, son of Ram Anuj Yadav, a primary school teacher, along with two other persons (Kuldeep Yadav, son of Omprakash Yadav, Hemant Yadav) brutally assaulted Vinay.

After brutally beating him, the killers admitted him to the health center in a critical condition as a case of accident. During the treatment, Vinay was able to inform the doctor that he was assaulted. Vinay later died of his injuries at around 6pm on the same day.

After the visit, the state unit of the party said on Saturday that Dalits are most unsafe in the state due to policies of the double engine governments of Modi and Yogi. The increasing incidents of violence against Dalits expose Chief Minister Yogi's tall claims of law and order. The party demanded a high-level inquiry into the Sultanpur incident, strict punishment to all the culprits and adequate compensation to the families of the deceased.

The four-member investigation team was led by CPI (ML) state committee member and Ambedkar Nagar in-charge Rambharose.
