The CPIML Uttar Pradesh secretary Sudhakar Yadav has condemned the police administration in Mirzapur for not lodging an FIR in the matter of the killing of a dalit youth which the police has called a case of suicide. The police misbehaved with the father of the deceased and used castiest abuses when he went in the thana to file an FIR.
The CPIML Mirzapur unit has demanded a judicial inquiry into the whole incident where a dalit youth Dharmraj died of injuries. As per postmortem report there were severe injuries on his chest and head, one eye was heavily damaged and both his legs were broken. These are signs of severe torture but the police in its version says the cause of death suicide due to falling from a height of mere five feet.
Sudhakar Yadav along with a team of CPIML and AIARLA leaders visited the family of the deceased in Sahira village of Lalganj PS on 29 July. The body of Dharmraj was found on 21 July but the police neither reported the case as a suspected murder nor handed over the body to the family of the deceased. Instead, they forcibly cremated the body immediately.
The CPIML has demanded a judicial inquiry into the whole incident, to file an FIR of murder and action against the concerned thana incharge.
Jeera Bharati, AIARLA vice president and Mirzapur CPIML secretary Ram Pyare Ram were also in the team. They have announced to hold a protest demonstration at the district headquarters on 4 August with the above demands.
