On the occasion of the 54th foundation anniversary of CPIML and 153rd birth anniversary of Comrade Lenin, party units all over the country commemorated the day by hoisting the red flag and paying tributes to Comrade Lenin and Comrade Charu Mazumdar and all martyrs and departed leaders who have sacrificed their all for the liberation of the Indian people. Members, supporters and thousands of common masses took pledge “to strengthen the bonds of unity and solidarity among all sections of the people cutting across religious and linguistic divides. Workers and peasants, men and women, Hindus and Muslims must all stand with each other and fight unitedly to defeat fascism and save democracy and save India”.
CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya hoisted the flag at Charu Bhawan, the Central Committee office in Delhi and paid tributes. He conveyed his revolutionary greetings to all members and well-wishers of CPIML and called upon to strengthen the movement against fascist offensive. He said that the Modi government has failed on all fronts and in desperation it is going all out to suppress the opposition, hijack all institutions of democracy including the judiciary and restrict every constitutional liberty of citizens. We must strengthen CPIML and build broad-based anti-fascist unity of the people.
Thousands of party branches across the country commemorated the day with enthusiasm and resolve. CPIML was founded on 22 April 1969 and a declaration to this effect was made in a massive rally held at Brigade Parade Ground in Calcutta by party’s founder General Secretary Charu Mazumdar. The party emerged through the historic Naxalbari peasant uprising and a long intra-party struggle among communist ranks for a revolutionary path in India.
After 54 years of that historic moment, today people are facing attacks by corporate fascist forces and the role of CPIML and its various initiatives are widely recognised amidst an ongoing quest for strengthening the struggle for democracy and to save the Constitution, the syncretic, democratic fabric of our society.
All members collectively read out a pledge to defeat fascism, hoisted flags and paid tributes to the martyrs. The mass commemoration programmes were organised in party offices and open spaces in all blocks and panchayats in every state.
