The two day Central Committee (CC) meeting concluded in Kolkata on March 27th highlighting the urgent need to strengthen people’s resistance and opposition unity to defeat the BJP's communal fascist politics. CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said that while BJP is trying to push its barbaric-genocidal 'Gujarat model' across the country and the impact of this is the rise in hatred and violence. The BJP's 'Gujarat Model' is also the model of corporate greed and crony capitalism as we see today, where Adanis and Ambanis are amassing wealth illegally and the government is protecting them.
The Central Committee meeting deliberated upon the issue of rising unemployment–inflation, disqualification of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from Loksabha, the use of central agencies like CBI-ED by Modi government to silenceopposition leaders and activists, among various other issues. The CC also deliberated upon the outcomes of the recently held 11th Party Congress of CPIML.
A 17-member Politburo was elected in the CC meeting, with Com. Meena Tiwari of AIPWA, Com. Shahsi Yadav of AICCTU, Com. Abhijit Mazumdar, Com. Sanjay Sharma of Central Office and Com. Ravi Rai as the new PBMs. As resolved in the 11th Party Congress of CPIML in Patna, a Gender Cell was also constituted in the CC meeting.
