The party condemns the ghastly killing of comrade Surendra Paswan by criminals led by village mukhiya of his own village in Bihta of Patna district on 29 August. He was killed for opposing atrocities on poor Dalits of his village. CPIML has criticized the Mahagathbandhan government for not taking pro-active measures against criminals which were given a freehand by BJP under the previous government. CPIML has asked Nitish Kumar to take cognizance of this incident and action against the criminals.
Party MLAs Gopal Ravidas and Sandip Saurav along with Madhuri Gupta, Surendra Yadav and Murtaza Ali visited the village to meet the aggrieved persons. They were told that the brother of village Sarpanch Vinay Yadav is a mechanic of electric transformers and also a known thief who used to steal transformers and their cooling oil affecting electricity supply in the village. The Sarpanch regularly threatens villagers in order to save his brother. On 26 August when electricity supply was cut, the villagers found out that the cooling oil is missing from the transformer. When complaint was made with the mukhiya he threatened to kill CPIML leader Surendra Paswan.
On 29 August Vinay Yadav and his gang deliberately started beating Pappu Paswan, his father and mother seriously injuring all of them. Hearing the news comrade Surendra Paswan rushed to the spot to save the innocents but he too was attacked brutally. Comrade Surendra died on the spot while other three are struggling for their lives in the PMCH Patna.
The police was present at the spot but remained mute spectator. When villagers opposed this attack Vinay Yadav and his men started firing on the villagers. CPIML has asked for stern action against the police personnel present there and arrest of Vijay Yadav, his brother Raifal Yadav and other goons. Party has also demanded monitory compensation to the family of the deceased and free treatment of all injured.
Protests were held against this killing on September 1 and 2 at many places in Patna District.
