Nitish Kumar Should Take Action Against Police Raid on CPIML Darbhanga Office
It was not unnatural to for the poor dalit villagers of Rajawada village of Darbhanga to get angry and resist the police who went there to bulldoze their houses. But the situation was worsened by few BJP elements of a nearby village Tarauni who added further tension by spreading rumours and communalising the situation leading to a violent clash with the police. One homeguard jawan later succumbed to the injuries.
The CPIML had already demanded to stop to the evictions of poor, the local administration used this clash to launch an all out attack on CPIML cadres. The police also illegally raided vandalised party’s Darbhanga Sadar office and arrested party’s district committee member and Insaf Manch’s district secretary Maqsood Alam alias Pappu Khan for no reason.
Poor villagers of Rajawada were assured by the administration in 2013 of alternative rehabilitation but this promise was never fulfilled. This eviction drive was done violating Supreme Court’s orders for mandatory rehabilitation.
CPIML has demanded a high level inquiry into the incident, to expose BJP conspiracy, to stop bulldozers over people’s homes and lives, and to immediately release Maqsood Alam. The Party has expressed grief over the death of a homeguard jawan.
