The 3rd AICCTU Uttarakhand state conference was organized with a pledge to stand firmly against the politics of communal polarization and intensify the struggle for rights, equality and dignity. The following demands were raised from the conference: roll back labour code; wages, pension and social security for all workers; regularize all scheme workers including ASHAs; roll back illegal closure of Joydas Wellness Company; stop privatization of PSUs like insurance, railways, banks; curb inflation and increase job opportunities; jail for political protectors of Uttarakhand recruitment scam perpetrators; enquiry into Uttarakhand Open University scam; strict action against casteist killers of Bhikiasain youth for inter-caste marriage.
Delivering the inaugural address, AICCTU General Secretary Rajiv Dimri said that the present government in India has pushed away the rights of workers and common people in order to benefit capitalists. Democracy and the Constitution are being destroyed. It is time to tell the government clearly and loudly that unless they curb inflation and increase employment, we will oust them from power. CPIML State Secretary Raja Bahuguna said that workers must build a unity based on the ideology of Bhagat Singh and Ambedkar. Bank and insurance sector union leaders said that at this time when the government is hell bent on handing over national assets to corporate capitalists, workers' unity is the need of the hour.
The delegate session was held and a new committee elected under the supervision of observer Comrade Abhishek. Comrades Nishan Singh and KK Bora were elected State President and Secretary respectively. Jogendra Lal, Dinesh Tiwari and Kailash Pandey were elected Vice Presidents, Lalit Matiyali Treasurer and Saraswati Punetha and Vinod Kumar Joint Secretaries.
