A seminar under 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' on the topic 'First Untouchable Revolutionary Hero Who Challenged Brahminical Order in Ancient India' to be held on 14 May 2022 at the prestigious AN Sinha Institute in Patna is cancelled. CPIML Bihar State Secretary Kunal said that the cancellation is an attack on freedom of expression and is a matter of grave concern to all freedom and democracy loving people. He said that this is a fresh example of the growing BJP-ization of Bihar.
It is noteworthy that several esteemed intellectuals were to participate in the seminar, including renowned historian OP Jaiswal, but the Bihar government cancelled the program saying that such a topic was likely to vitiate the social atmosphere.
The CPIML State Secretary said the BJP is falsifying history under cover of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav'. RSS people are falsely being portrayed as freedom fighters. On the other hand, a seminar on heroic historical untouchable figures who challenged the Brahminical order is labelled as a program that will vitiate social harmony. Clearly the BJP wants to do everything to retain the Brahminical order in the country and establish people who will retain this order. The anti-dalit face of the BJP has once again been exposed. How long will Chief Minister keep on surrendering in front of the BJP? He is the head of the government but the entire state is being run according to the agenda of the BJP.
Nitish Kumar keeps repeating the words 'secularism' and 'social justice' but a seminar on historical heroes who challenged Brahminism is being cancelled by his government.
This is an outright attack on the autonomy of the academic world. The CPIML in Bihar has demanded that the Chief Minister should take cognizance of this matter at his level, take strict action against the officials who are destroying academic autonomy, and stop surrendering to the BJP agenda. The people of Bihar will never accept the BJP-ization of the academic world.
