The Covid warriors, health workers who were removed from work, wished to put their case before the Union Health Minister when he came to cut the ribbon and inaugurate the new building in the Lady Hardinge Hospital complex.
None of the Ministers in power--be it Labour Minister Bhupendra Yadav or Health Minister Mansukh Mandavia--are bothered about resolving the Covid warriors' problems. Health Minister Mansukh Mandavia arrived at Lady Hardinge Hospital on 10 May 2022 as the chief guest to inaugurate a new building in the complex. When retrenched health workers from various departments tried to meet the Health Minister, the Delhi Police took them away to Mandir Marg Thana. Many contract workers of Lady Hardinge Hospital were still detained at the Thana at the time of the writing of this report. AICCTU State Council member Advocate Mukesh Mukt accompanied them and remained with them. This is not the first time these health workers have been detained by the Delhi Police but they are determined to carry forward their struggle.
Slave-driving of contract workers in a free country calls for a strong mass movement. We demand reinstatement of all Covid warriors. The Health Minister must answer for the betrayal of these Covid warriors.
