Vikram Kumar, a dalit youth resident of Thala Tadiyal village, Sult Block, Almora District was forcibly taken down by Savarna upper caste people from the horse he was riding in his Baraat on 2 May 2022 and all the Baraatis were threatened that they would be burned to death just like in another earlier incident that happened in Kafalta.
Incidents of atrocities against dalits are consistently on the increase in Uttarakhand which is another BJP government ruled state. The administration remains indifferent to these incidents.
A protest against this incident and the Uttarakhand government's indifference was organized in front of the Additional Collector (Haldwani) by Shilpkar Chetna Manch, Dr Ambedkar Mission and Foundation, CPIML, Kisan Mahasabha and Bhim Army to demand strict punishment for the guilty persons. They also demanded an end to the caste atrocities being perpetrated with the help of political patronage.
