The Indian Institute of Marxist Studies (IIMS) in Karnataka with Dr. Laxminarayana as its convener has conducted several programs for the Marxist education and discussions within and outside the left circles in Karnataka.
Dr. Laxminarayana and Dr. Rati Rao have dedicated a wide collection of over 2000 books to be used by those interested in progressive and left politics to the library named “Arivu” (knowledge). Arivu will be open to left intellectuals and activists. For veteran comrades from Mysore, this library brings back the reminiscences of the Marxist Library which was responsible in creating a vibrant set of Marxist intellectuals in 45 years ago in the backdrop of the Emergency period. The “Arivu” is expected to attract students who are interested in getting to know Marxism.
On 27 February, CPIML Polit Bureau member V Shankar dedicated “Arivu” to the left movement in Mysore. Many left activists and intellectuals were present on the occasion of the inauguration. In the current challenging times, we need more of such libraries to equip the activists and general masses with the progressive ideas.
