Big Victory to AISA-led Reopen DU Movement
In evening of 9th February, the Delhi University administration released a notice saying that offline classes will resume for all Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses from the 17th of February in DU. This is a historic victory for a struggle that was led by the All India Students' Association. Finally, this ends the undue hardship faced by DU students due to the ineptitude of DU administration which has kept the university shut for almost two years and abdicated their responsibility completely.
AISA Delhi said in a statement that this decision is not a gift of DU administration but a hard fought victory of consistent AISA-led Reopen DU movement. It was February of last year when AISA had sat on a 48 Hour Hunger strike for the reopening of DU. Many memorandums, protests, a Hunger Strike and 56 day indefinite strike later, after three days of vociferous protest by AISA, this notice is a sigh of relief to the thousands of students of DU.
Thousands of students have boycotted their classes in solidarity with AISA's Chakka Jaam for three days. Hundreds of students protested in the fight for their campus. AISA activists will assist and help all the students who will be returning to Delhi.
