CPIML District Committee member and AIARLA Pipra Block Secretary Yogendra Paswan has been shot dead on 28 Nov. The political activists fighting for the rights of the poor are being deliberately targeted under the Nitish government.
Yogendra Paswan was a lawyer by profession. The mother of Amaldat Ram from the same District had received the parcha for Bhoodan land. Yogendra Paswan was fighting to get her dakhal (possession) of that land. Feudals were constantly threatening Amaldat Ram who then came to Yogendra Paswan to get a case filed. Yogendra Paswan had prepared the application for this on 27 November, and on that very night he was shot dead.
A protest was held at Sakhwa against this murder, prior to Yogendra Paswan's last rites. No one has been arrested so far in this matter. CPIML has demanded the arrest of all the killers without delay. The party has also demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakhs for Yogendra Paswan's family. The family is living in terror after the incident. The administration must provide them adequate security.
The incidents of crime in Bihar are in no way coming down in Bihar; on the contrary, they are on the increase. This is extremely worrisome.
