Students and youth under the UP Mange Rozgar (UP Demands Employment) campaign have over the past 6 months organized Right to Employment conferences, Yatras and mass signature campaigns in dozens of Districts in Uttar Pradesh including Lucknow, Allahabad, Banaras, Mau, Sitapur and Gorakhpur. Through a Right to Employment march on 2 December in front of the Lucknow Vidhan Sabha they strongly put forth their demand that the government should without delay fill the 25 lakh government posts lying vacant in Uttar Pradesh.
In the next phase of this campaign on December 23 a Right to Employment Manifesto was released in Lucknow on behalf of UP's youth to the government as well as various political parties. This was done in view of the impending UP Assembly election so that the BJP government in power should render its accounts and other political parties should make clear their policy on the issue of employment, said the Rozgar Abhiyan leaders.
The Employment Manifesto emphasizes on the following points:
The UP Mange Rozgar campaign organized a press conference in Lucknow on 23 December 2021 and released the Rozgar Adhikar Ghoshanapatra (Right to Employment Manifesto). The campaign, which stands as a joint forum of many student-youth organizations and has been ongoing for the past 4 months, announced the initiatives and activities in its next phase.
Addressing press personnel, campaign convener Sunil Maurya said that the UP government which came to power on the promise of 70 lakh jobs now claims to have given 4.5 lakh jobs in 4.5 years, whereas these jobs have not reached the youth in the state. The continuous agitation by youth on the streets of Lucknow prove that the Yogi government is a failure at providing jobs, implementing reservations and conducting exams.
AISA National President N Sai Balaji said that it is the demand of students and youth that the government should issue a job calendar for all jobs on the lines of UPSC. We appeal to opposition parties to include this Employment Manifesto in their election manifestos. AISA State Vice President Chanda Yadav said that by lathi-charging students agitating for jobs, the Yogi government has sealed its fate in the impending elections. AISA Lucknow District President Prachi Maurya said that the Yogi government is not only closing all employment opportunities but also excluding common students from education by implementing the NEP. The press conference was also addressed by Samajwadi student leader Ankit Singh Babu, CYSS leader Anita Rawat, RYA leader Rajiv Gupta, AIYF leader Neeraj Yadav and kisan youth leader Maruti Manav.
It was announced through the press conference that Employment Mahapanchayats would be organized in various districts across the state.
