All India Students’ Association has issued a statement stating that the Delhi University students at the arts faculty gathered in large numbers on 16 Nov, the ninth day of indefinite protests and raised slogans for campus reopening and against the NEP. The DU administration still maintains silence over the looming question of restarting campus procedures offline, only solidifying its unwillingness to perform the bare minimum of its responsibilities. Despite oncoming winters, students vow to continue the sit-in until the administration releases a concrete model for re-opening.
The administration’s quest to shirk away from its responsibility through the narrative of pre-existing covid cases being the prime deterrence must be frustrated in the best interest of the students. Several student activists have already proposed a model of phased reopening and vaccination centers in college campuses. Therefore, the University’s willful ignorance of accounting for the fact that most shopping complexes and private universities have reopened implies several inconsistencies within their excuses through which the administration distorts facts.
The Bhagat Singh library, continues with full capacity on day 4 and continues to capture the attention of common students who engage with the protestors, expressing solidarity and reading political literature.
The administrations general lack of regard for systemized exclusion of a majority of children through online education however, does not deter the students who have felt the devastating impact of campus lockdown. The false narrative pushed across by the University Administration finds no solid ground to deter the spirit of the students.
