The CPIML’s Chhattisgarh unit together with the party’s Central Control Commission organized a gender sensitization workshop on 2 October at Raipur in Chhattisgarh. The one-day workshop began with a minute's silence to pay tribute to feminist activist Kamla Bhasin who passed away recently. Mohit Jaiswal and Vasuki Prasad presented poems composed by them on the women’s movement.
The workshop was attended by party activists and supporters. The main issues discussed included moral policing, discrimination on the basis of dress and behaviour, freedom to love and choose life partner, inter-caste and inter-religion marriages, the importance of consent, and LGBTQI rights.
Conducting the workshop, Central Control Commission chairperson Comrade Lakshmi Krishnan said that gender discrimination is consciously or unconsciously practised by most people and many of us unconsciously encourage the behaviour of gender discrimination because patriarchy has ingrained it in us. We need to consciously fight against gender discrimination and take collective responsibility for it.
