Attacks on Dalits and Minorities Constantly on the Rise in Bihar
CPIML Bihar State Secretary Kunal expressed serious concern and anger over the increasing violence against dalits and minorities in Bihar by BJP-JDU supported dominant sections, and demanded that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should put an end to such incidents without delay.
It should be noted that people from the Nat caste were brutally attacked in Dulhinganj (Jagdishpur Block, Bhojpur District) on 11 July by family members of former Minister Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha, seriously injuring at least 6 persons. On receiving news of the incident, Agiaon MLA Manoj Manzil, RYA leader Raju Yadav, AISA leader Kamlesh Yadav, AIPWA leader Indu Singh, Block Secretary Kamlesh Yadav, Shahnawaz Khan, Arun Singh and other leaders visited the victim family members and enquired into the incident.
While they were talking with the victim family, the former Minister's family also misbehaved with MLA Manoj Manzil and tried to attack him. Manoj Manzil has registered an FIR against this at the Jagdishpur Thana. The CPIML has demanded the immediate arrest of all these criminals and said that BJP-JDU are giving protection to the criminals.
In another incident, Mahadalit families in Moratal (Bodhgaya) were attacked by a gang of 50 armed and organized criminals on the morning of 7 July. Ghoshi MLA Rambali Singh Yadav, District Secretary Niranjan Kumar, AIPWA District Secretary Rita Baranwal, AISA leaders Kunal, Amir Tufail, Kasfaveen Shamim, Tariq Anwar, Ravi Kumar, Barti Devi, Pulendra Kumar and Ajay Prasad led a state level team that went to the spot and enquired into the incident.
Rambali Singh Yadav said that the objective of the attack on the Mahadalit families was to vacate the land on which they had put up huts on 28 June. Many Mahadalit families are still homeless. They put up huts on about 9 acres of land on the banks of River Falgu. But the dominant section came armed and attacked them, broke down their huts, beat up the women, destroyed food materials, and put up their own huts in the place.
Rambali Singh Yadav said that the government is cheating the poor. The government has made tall claims about housing for the poor. But the reality is that a large population of the poor is still homeless. When they put up huts on common land lying vacant, they are subjected to attacks by dominant sections and the government remains a mute spectator. A protest against the incident was organized on 15 July.
