The mayhem caused by the 2nd wave of Covid has completely exposed Bihar's decrepit health system. AIPF organized a webinar on 14 June on the pandemic and Bihar's miserable health system. Well-known political-social activists as well as renowned doctors participated in the webinar. Those who participated include CPIML Bihar State Secretary Kunal, Ruban Memorial Hospital Director Dr Satyajit Singh, former HoD of ENT at PMCH Dr PNP Pal, renowned physician and health activist Dr Shakeel, and former HoD Pathology at DMCH Dr Ajit Chaudhury. The webinar was conducted by Kamlesh Sharma.
State Secretary Kunal spoke about awareness, vaccination and treatment and pointed out the failures and lies of the government. Dr Satyajit Singh said that a 3rd wave of Covid is a distinct possibility and can be countered only through timely vaccination. Dr PNP Pal said that there is a lack of scientific temper in society and people like RSS stooge Ramdev are escalating superstition and non-scientific beliefs through statements against vaccination and allopathy. Dr Shakeel said that Corona has brought the health system into prominent focus, which used to be sidelined earlier. The Bihar health system is one of the poorest in the country. The need of the hour is to question the government on this and ask, what has happened to Ayushman and similar schemes?
The webinar was attended by about 80 people, many of whom asked Covid-related questions. A pledge was taken to participate in the awareness campaign against misinformation and rumours.
