As part of the relief campaign being organized by the Covid Help Centre run by CPIML-AISA-RYA, rations were distributed to 150 poor families struggling with lockdown-induced hunger and joblessness in Patna's Ramakrishna Nagar Thana (Bhupatinagar Manjhi Tola), Eastern Lohanipur in Kadamkuan Thana (Mahmudichak) and Western Lohanipur (Buddha Smriti footpath).
Patna City Secretary Abhyuday said that our relief campaign will be continued ceaselessly. Our Covid Centre has been dedicated to the service of the people for 21 days now and our comrades are putting their own lives on the line to supply essential materials to the needy. Each ration packet contains 5 kg rice, 2 kg atta, 1 kg dal, 2 kg potatoes, 1 kg onions, 1 kg salt, 1 soap, and 3 masks. Beaten rice (chivda) and jaggery packets are also being distributed among footpath vendors. Comrade Abhyuday pointed out that people were already hit by the Covid crisis and now in addition they are struggling with lockdown-induced difficulties.
Meanwhile, the Covid Help Centre is getting every kind of help from many social activists and civil society.
The Covid Help Centre has expressed dissatisfaction that the administration has not so far issued passes to the Centre volunteers. This has resulted in many problems in disbursement of essential relief materials to patients/family members and the hungry poor. We appeal to the District administration to shed its obstinacy and issue passes without delay to our Centre volunteers so that we can provide relief to as many people as possible.
