Chakka Jam in Support of Farmers' Struggle
In response to the call given by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha for a chakka jam on 6 February, CPIML and All India Kisan Mahasabha organized chakka jams in all states between 2 pm and 3 pm. In Bihar, leader of CPIML Legislative Party Mahboob Alam participated in the chakka jam in Patna City and said that the farmers' movement has now spread to all parts of the country. The entire country is witnessing the tyranny of the Modi government and demands for the resignation of this government are being voiced through the farmers' struggle.
AIKSCC Bihar-Jharkhand in-charge and AIKM General Secretary Rajaram Singh said that the today's chakka jam has been a resounding success, with farmers participating in huge numbers. This movement has now spread from Delhi to all other states. The whole country is noting that the tyrannical Modi government is now repressing journalists as well as farmers. We demand the release of all arrested farmers and all those who are missing should be found without delay.
Chakka jams were witnessed across Bihar, including at NH 31 in Beguserai, GT Road in Gaya, Ara-Sasaram Highway at Piro in Bhojpur, and Patna-Arwal Road in Paliganj led by MLA Sandeep Saurabh. AISA organized a student-youth march in Muzaffarpur in support of the farmers' movement. NH 28 was jammed for one hour in Eastern Champaran, while Harlakhi in Madhubani was jammed by CPIML activists. Successful chakka jams were also organized at Sitamarhi, Supoul and Purnea.
Marches in support of the chakka jam were organized at Mopti, Tarari, Agiaon, Bihiyan, Gadhani, Ara, Jagdishpur and other Blocks in Bhojpur. Kisan Mahasabha activists jammed the road at Maharani Check in Hajipur led by AIKM State President Vishveshwar Yadav. NH 30 and NH 104 were jammed for one hour at Buxar and Jainagar respectively. Farmers organized a successful chakka jam at Barsoi in Katihar, while MLA Rambali Yadav led the chakka jam in Jehanabad. Extensive and successful chakka jams were also held at Siwan, Gopalganj, Nawada, Nalanda, Bhabhua and other Districts.
Copies of Farm Laws Burnt in Uttarakhand
Copies of the three anti-farm laws were burnt in protests at Maikhura in Uttarakhand on 6 February. It should be noted that Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh were kept out of the nationwide call given by the farmers' movement for chakka jam on 6 January.
CPIML Garhwal Secretary Indresh Maikhuri said that the three black farm laws are the harbingers of destruction and ruin to the farmers of the country. The farmers' struggle has continued for more than 70 days and over 100 farmers have been martyred, but the Central government remains totally insensitive and obdurate. The government is more worried about foreign tweets than about the death of farmers, and wants to finish off the movement through a conspiracy of violence unleashed by its own goons in the name of farmers.
He further said that farming in Uttarakhand has become the victim of total negligence. Farmers are constrained to deal with the menace of pigs, monkeys, tigers and bears. There is no policy for procurement or distribution of local produce, and no vision for the encouragement of such produce. Making hill cultivation profitable is essential for Uttarakhand's prosperity. In order to do this, 'chakbandi' (consolidation), land reforms and distribution of land to the landless needs to be done and sale of agricultural land must be curbed.
The protest was attended by Dinesh Dimri, Prem Singh Kindwal, Satish Maikhuri, Kuldeep Maikhuri, Mathura Prasad Maikhuri, Mansa Ram Maikhuri, Anil Tamta, Sukhdev Tamta, Shiv Lal, Tota Ram Maikhuri, Sachin Maikhuri and others.
Protests in Uttar Pradesh on 6 February
CPIML, AIKM and AIARLA held protests at various places across Uttar Pradesh in support of the ongoing farmers' movement on 6 February. The program in Uttar Pradesh was to submit memorandums. AIKM and AIARLA jointly organized protests at Bajna as well as the District HQ in Mathura District and demanded repeal of all 3 farm laws, legal status for MSP, and withdrawal of all false cases against farmers. A memorandum with these demands was sent to the President. The protest was led by AIKM National Vice President Nathilal Pathak, Manoj Verma, Rakesh Chaudhury, Gendalal Mahashay, Dr Than Singh and others.
Protests in Banaras were organized by CPIML and a memorandum sent to the President. AIKM organized a protest at Chakiya in Chandauli District and submitted a memorandum to the President via the Deputy Collector. The protests were addressed by leaders from CPIML, AIKM and AIARLA, including VK Singh, Kusum Verma and Anil Paswan.
Protests were also organized and memorandums submitted at Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Devariya, Sonbhadra, Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Jaunpur, Basti, Lucknow, Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheeri, Pilibhit, Jalaun and other Districts. At some places including Sonbhadra the protests were held despite being undemocratically obstructed by the administration.
A one-day dharna in support of the ongoing farmers' movement was organized under the joint banners of CPIML and All India Kisan Mahasabha on 6 February at Buxa in Jaunpur. The dharna was led by CPIML District in-charge Gaurav Singh and presided over by AIKM District Convener Comrade Renu Singh. Present at the dharna were Comrades Rajnath Bind, Jagdish Prasad, Shobhana, Kripal, Bijender, Badama Devi, Dulhan, Bina, and hundreds of party activists. The activists pledged solidarity with the farmers camping at the Delhi borders. A 9-member delegation met the Block Development Officer and submitted a memorandum. Slogans demanding repeal of the three black farm laws were raised on the occasion.
