Under the AIKSCC call for ‘Delhi Chalo’ on 14 December 2020, farmers from Rajasthan reached Kotputli on 12 December and started from there to Delhi on the morning of 13 December. They started with hundreds of vehicles at 11 am on 13 December from Kotputli and were stopped by the police at Shahjahanpur about 500 meters from the Haryana border, after which the farmers proceeded on foot in the form of a rally. On seeing this, the police sealed the Haryana border and stopped the rally with a heavy deployment of police personnel. The farmers then stayed put on the spot and blockaded the NH 8. Farmers on their way to Delhi continue to arrive there in large numbers.
All India Kisan Mahasabha National Secretary Comrade Ramchandra Kulhari said that the Cordination Committee is considering the matter and there is a possibility that soon the barricades will be broken and the farmers will proceed to Delhi. He said that the farmers’ gherao to go to Delhi will be intensified and strengthened until the three black farm laws are repealed, and the whole of Delhi will be gheraoed by the farmers of the country.
In view of the consistently increasing numbers of farmers on the highway, police and RAF have been deployed in large numbers on the Haryana border and heavy barricading has been done. All vehicles moving in that direction are being stopped by the Haryana government. So much so that even some farmers’ supporters who had gone to the Tikri border to prepare langar are being stopped at the Haryana border and prevented from returning to Rajasthan.
The movement is intense and firm. There is a large participation of women also. Local elections were on in Rajasthan till 10 December but after that the farmers’ movement has spread with intensity. Local level protests were organized in various Districts in response to the AIKSCC call for 14 December.
The dharna on the highway was addressed by Kisan Sabha leader Hannan Mollah, Swaraj Abhiyan leader Yogendra Yadav, NAPM leader Medha Patkar, Rajasthan AIKS leader Comrade Amra Ram, CPIM MLA Balwan Punia and others.
