A conference was organized on 23 July 2020 at Tapa tehsil in Barnala District of Punjab under the banner of Mahila Rin Mukti Andolan (Freedom from Debt for Women). Women attended the conference in large numbers. The conference raised the following demands:
1. The government should waive all micro-finance loans of rural as well as urban women.
2. School fees should be waived for the Lockdown period.
3. Free treatment at government hospitals.
4. End the undeclared emergency imposed on people’s struggles.
5. Withdraw all false cases against intellectuals, journalists and democratic activists including revolutionary poet Varavara Rao.
Among those who led and attended the conference were senior leaders Rajvinder Rana, Nachhattar Singh Kheewa, District Secretary Gurpreet Rorke, Punjab Kisan Union State President Ruldu Singh Mansa, Gora Singh Bhaini, Jagga Singh, Mohan Singh Rorke, Ankar Singh Barad, Harman Singh Himmatpura, Soni Singh Himmatpura, Dr Jugraj Singh, Nihal Singh and Paramjeet Kaur Barnala.
