IN a joint statement CPIML Bihar State Secretary Kunal and PB member and Khagariya District in-charge Rajaram Singh have strongly condemned the killing on 11 April of CPM Khagariya District Committee member and former Mukhiya of Meghona Panchayat Comrade Jagdish Chandra Basu. The ML leaders pointed out that after the lockdown the morale of feudal-criminals in Bihar is very high and they are attacking dalits, Muslims and political rivals at various places.
It is very unfortunate that today instead of uniting and fighting the Corona and Lockdown crisis together, feudal-criminals are using it as a license to attack dalits, Muslims and political rivals. We had already alerted the Chief Minister about this but the government is paying no heed to this issue. This is indeed a cause of great concern.
On hearing of the news of the killing, Khagariya District Secretary Arun Das enquired into the entire episode. He said that Jagdish Chandra Basu was killed on 11 April when he was returning home after participating in a Corona pandemic awareness campaign. The criminals ambushed him on the way and shot him to death.
The CPIML expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of Comrade Basu and has demanded from the Bihar government that all the guilty persons should be immediately arrested, and all steps should be taken to stop such incidents in future.
