THE are the most mobile and grassroots component of India's rural health system, ASHA workers, known euphemistically as Accredited Social Health Activists, are not even recognised as workers by the government, for all the hard work they are doing amid this Coronavirus pandemic and Lockdown.

From April 27 to May 3 ASHA workers is Bihar organised a ‘ASHA Demand Week’ to reiterate for their long neglected demands of service recognition, Minimum Wage, special pandemic allowance, PPE kits and a host of other demands which Bihar state government had agreed to but never fulfilled.

ASHAs came out maintaining physical distancing norms raised their voice through posters, sit-ins and by standing in front of the workplaces with badges and posters of demands.
