AIPWA organized a conference at Pragati Nagar in Camp-2 Bhilai to discuss issues faced by women. The conference demanded that the State government should pass a resolution in the Chhattisgarh Assembly against CAA-NRC-NPR. The conference was addressed by AIPWA Chhattisgarh convener Lakshmi Krishnan, President Rani Soni, Geeta Dusiya, AICCTU leaders Shyamlal Sahu and Ashok Miri and Ward Councilor Raju.
Lakshmi Krishnan said that this year’s Budget is the latest in the series of policy disasters inflicted on the country by the Modi government. The Budget gives no relief to the common man from spiraling prices, unemployment, agrarian crisis and shrinking wages. The government has paid no heed to the people’s demand of Rs 3000 pension per month for all, regularization of scheme workers, and equal pay for equal work. She expressed grave concern over the rising cases of violence against women and stressed the need to intensify the struggle for women’s livelihood, safety, dignity, equality and autonomy. She demanded that the Central government should revoke CAA and end NRC, NPR and detention centers.
Shyamlal Sahu appealed to the people to unite and fight together against the ongoing attacks on the Constitution and democracy. Ward Councilor Raju expressed full solidarity with women’s struggles for their rights.
